Meet Dr. Paul E. DiFranco (email)
Dr. Paul was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He received his undergraduate education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He continued his education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received his dental degree (DDS). Dr. Paul then pursued further academic training with a fellowship in Craniofacial Research for one year, and then went on to complete his Orthodontic Residency at the University of Kentucky, where he earned his Masters Certificate (M.S.). In order to keep up with the latest technology and increase his knowledge in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Paul loves to attend continuing education courses in orthodontics. Dr. Paul is a third generation dentist. He began his pursuit of Orthodontics at a young age while assisting his uncle Paul A. DiFranco at his orthodontic practice. Dr. Paul is very excited to continue the family name in orthodontics and care for patients in the Chicagoland area.
Dr. Paul joined the Forest Park Orthodontics practice in June of 2013.
He is an active member of the ADA (American Dental Association), the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists), the ABO (American Board of Orthodontics), the ISO (Illinois Society of Orthodontists), the ISDS (Illinois State Dental Society), the American Association of Dental Research (AADR), International Association of Dental Research (IADR), and the Arcolian Dental Society (ADS).
Dr. Paul’s academic achievements include serving as lead author of the research project, “Correlation Analysis of CII/D2 with BARX-1 and BMP4.” He received a third place award at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry research day. Dr. Paul’s master of science degree research was entitled, “Association Analysis of Genetic Markers within the Activin?-A and Activin?-B Genes and Non-3rd-Molar Naturally Missing Teeth.” This has been submitted for publication.
Dr. Paul met his wife, Alison, while attending Miami University. They married in December 2009 and enjoy running, golfing, cooking, dancing and spending time with their family and friends.
When asked what he loves about his job? “What I love most about my job is building lasting relationships with my patients and their families.”

Amrita (Ami) Rakalla, DDS, MS was born and raised in Danville, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Dr. Ami continued her education at UIC, where she also received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, she received several awards including the American Institute of Orthodontic Research award and the University of Illinois Alumni Association Lina K. Tharp Award for compassion in providing oral healthcare to patients. For her outstanding academic achievements, Dr. Ami was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. Dr. Ami then completed her orthodontic residency at Marquette University in Milwaukee, earning her Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Her professional affiliations include the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Illinois Society of Orthodontists, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and Delta Sigma Delta, a national dental fraternity.
She currently lives in the West Loop neighborhood in Chicago. Dr. Ami enjoys reading, baking, learning to cook, trying new restaurants, watching tennis and cheering on all Chicago sports teams, as well as spending time with family and friends.
